Being there for our kids...

This is a really hard generation of kids to raise I think. And... it's not going to get any better when our kids have kids. But, I have had the conversation with my mom about how raising my kids is completely different from when she raised my brother and I. There isn't really a comparison. When I was growing up there wasn't computers, phones, YouTube and all of the snags we have today. We had one of the original Nintendo's and played Monopoly, Snoopy and Super Mario Bros. If that's all I had to worry about, it would be great.

I think that because there is so many video and online places for kids just to "hang out" not to mention social media, it is so important that our kids know we are there for them. Not to judge them, but to truly be there to give an ear, really listen and try and help them in any way we can. Even if you are not a parent, if there is a close friend who has kids or something like that, you can help them. Let them know you are there. Our kids need trustworthy people to look up to and guide them.

One day my kids were watching a boy who was showing how to do fidget spinner tricks. Apparently he had a YouTube channel. Not sure what all he put on there. At the end of the video he was making he said, "If you don't follow my channel I will come to your house and kill you." Now obviously you and I both know that won't happen. But it scared my 10 year old. And why is there a reason to say something like that in the first place? Parents, we have got to keep an eye for our kids. This world is going to need good decent humans when we pass. And our kids need to know how to raise good and decent humans as well.

So among all of the chaos, kids fighting, feeling like you might go crazy, don't forget to just be there!

Happy Thursday!
